Despite it being the summer season, prices for natural gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG) on global energy markets remain as high as during the winter period.

In January–June 2026, Azerbaijan imported 585,062 tons of wheat, valued at almost $133 million, Report informs, citing the country’s State Customs Committee.
According to the latest data, the imports dropped by 17,192 tons (2.8%) in volume, while increasing by $2.243 million (1.7%) in value compared to the first half of 2025.
During the reporting period, spending on wheat imports accounted for 1.6% of Azerbaijan’s total import costs.
Overall, Azerbaijan conducted foreign trade operations worth $24.661 billion in the initial six months of 2026, which is 1.1% more than in the same period last year. Of this, $16.320 billion came from exports and $8.341 billion from imports. Year‑on‑year, the exports rose by 26.7% and imports dropped by 27.6%.
As a result, a trade surplus of $7.979 billion was recorded in the first half, which is 5.9 times higher compared to the corresponding period last year.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced that he is stepping down, saying he has fulfilled the goals he set for himself as head of government.
According to Sky News, Starmer made the announcement during his farewell speech before leaving office.
“My work is done,” Starmer said.
He said in his six and a half years as Labour leader he took the party “from a historic defeat in 2019, changed it so it was fit to face the country, and won a landslide general election victory in 2024”.
He went on: “Since then, it has been the privilege of my life to serve you and this great country as prime minister, and I am confident that Britain is now stronger and fairer than it was two years ago.”
Starmer said his government has lifted children out of poverty, reduced immigration, put defence on a stronger footing, and enhanced the UK’s international reputation.
He also reaffirmed the UK’s unwavering support for Ukraine, while stressing that preserving national unity remains one of the country’s most important tasks in a “world now where our enemies will stop at nothing to divide us.”
Concluding his speech, Starmer wished his successor, Andy Burnham, success in office.
“I go with good grace, I go with a smile and I go proud of everything that we have achieved. Thank you very much,” he concluded.
