Young Basketball Players Left Without a Place to Train Following Olympavan Closure
Young basketball players are bewildered after the closure of the Olympavan sports complex, which has left them without the opportunity to train properly or prepare for tournaments.
Speaking to journalists during a protest in support of Prosperous Armenia Party leader Gagik Tsarukyan, basketball coach Tovmas Ordanyan said the closure has severely affected the athletes’ training & competitive readiness.

Asmik Grigorian to Perform the Title Role in Carmen at the Salzburg Festival
The Salzburg Summer Festival will present a new production of Georges Bizet’s Carmen, directed by Gabriela Carrizo, at the Grosses Festspielhaus from July 26 to August 21.
Renowned 🇦🇲 soprano Asmik Grigorian will perform the title role of Carmen, while Kristina Mkhitaryan will appear as Micaëla.
Armenian Professionals Among the 2026 Emmy Award Nominees
The Television Academy has announced the nominees for the 78th Emmy Awards, the highest honor recognizing excellence in television and widely regarded as the TV equivalent of the Academy Awards.
Among the nominees are four professionals of Armenian descent:
🔹 Peggy Tachdjian — Outstanding Picture Editing for a Comedy Series for Hacks.
🔹 Louis Zakarian — Outstanding Makeup for the variety show Saturday Night Live.
🔹 Kim Kachugian — Outstanding Production Design for Saturday Night Live.
🔹 Razmik Karakashian — Outstanding Picture Editing for a Reality Competition Program for Survivor.
This year’s leading Emmy nominees are the television series The Pitt, Hacks, & The Widows’ Bay.
The 78th Emmy Awards ceremony will take place on September 14 at the Peacock Theater in LA.
