Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov thanks Azerbaijan for Dostlug tanker gift


Chairman of Turkmenistan’s People’s Council, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, met with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov, who is on a visit to Ashgabat, Report informs, citing the Turkmenistan State News Agency (TDH).

Jabbarov conveyed warm greetings from President Ilham Aliyev to Berdimuhamedov.

In return, the Turkmen leader extended his best wishes to the Azerbaijani president and emphasized the importance of the steadily deepening ties between the two friendly nations. He noted that relations between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan are developing on the basis of mutual respect and trust.

During the meeting, it was highlighted that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to strengthening friendship, brotherhood, and good‑neighborly relations with Azerbaijan. Reference was also made to the significance of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov’s state visit to Baku last month.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed his gratitude once again to Azerbaijan for gifting Turkmenistan the Dostlug oil tanker during that visit.

21 dead after landslide in NW China’s Gansu


Rescue operations have been completed at the site of a landslide in Tanchang County, northwest China’s Gansu Province, which left 21 people dead and seven injured, local authorities said on Wednesday, Report informs via Xinhua.

The injured, who are being treated in local hospitals, are in stable condition, the Longnan municipal government said at a press conference.

The landslide struck Renzang Village of Nanhe Township in Longnan City at around 6:56 a.m. on Tuesday, trapping 33 people. Five people were rescued unscathed.

Multiple rescue teams, including emergency, fire and police personnel, were swiftly deployed to the scene in the wake of the disaster.

Death toll from Venezuela earthquake rises to 3,685


The death toll from the devastating earthquake in Venezuela has climbed to 3,685, Jorge Rodríguez, head of the National Assembly of the Bolivarian Republic, announced on Telegram, Report informs.

Based on the government”s daily report, 16,740 people sustained varying degrees of injuries, while 17,907 were left homeless. Rescue operations have saved 6,462 individuals, and 25,970 people have received medical assistance in hospitals and treatment centers.

The destruction has been severe: 190 buildings were completely destroyed and 856 suffered major damage. Authorities have provided support to 86,794 families, delivering 9,603 tons of food to those in need.

The earthquake struck northern Venezuela on the night of June 25 with a magnitude of 7.1. The US Geological Survey later confirmed two additional tremors, measuring 7.2 and 7.5, occurring within 40 seconds. In response, the government declared a state of emergency.
