UN Secretary-General António Guterres has expressed concern over renewed military confrontation in the Persian Gulf, warning that further escalation could undermine diplomatic progress between Iran and the United States.
According to Report, citing a statement from Stéphane Dujarric, Spokesperson for the Secretary-General of the UN, Guterres cautioned that a return to full-scale military operations would have disastrous consequences for the peoples of the region, international peace and security, and the global economy.
The Secretary-General urged all parties to exercise maximum restraint, avoid future escalation, resume talks as soon as possible, and resolve existing differences through diplomatic means.
