Azerbaijan’s swimmers finished the international swimming tournament in Kutaisi, Georgia, with a total of 33 medals, according to the Azerbaijan Swimming Federation.
The national team added 26 more medals after winning seven on the opening day of the competition, completing a strong overall performance.
Meanwhile, Fatima Alkaramova also claimed a bronze medal at the Belarus Open Swimming Cup in Minsk. She finished third in the women’s 400-meter individual medley with a time of 5:11.93.
Georgia’s external merchandise trade, excluding non-declared trade, reached USD 12.925 billion in January-June 2026, up 5.8% year-on-year, according to preliminary data released by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat) on July 20. Kyrgyzstan remained Georgia’s largest export market, while Turkey was the country’s top source of imports. Motor cars continued to dominate both exports and imports.
Exports increased by 20% year-on-year to USD 3.87 billion, while imports rose by 0.7% to USD 9.04 billion. The trade deficit amounted to USD 5.17 billion, accounting for 40% of total external trade turnover.
Kyrgyzstan remained Georgia’s leading export destination, with exports totaling USD 431.8 million, followed closely by China (USD 428.6 million) and Azerbaijan (USD 335.9 million). The top ten export destinations accounted for 69.8% of Georgia’s total exports.
Motor cars remained Georgia’s largest export commodity, totaling USD 938 million and making up 24.2% of all exports. Petroleum and petroleum oils ranked second at USD 486.9 million (12.6%), followed by precious metal ores and concentrates at USD 304.3 million (7.9%).
Turkey was Georgia’s largest import partner, with imports totaling USD 1.39 billion, followed by Russia (USD 1.19 billion) and China (USD 1.06 billion). The top ten import partners accounted for 70.6 % of total imports.
Motor cars also remained the country’s largest import commodity, reaching USD 1.61 billion and accounting for 17.8% of total imports. Petroleum and petroleum oils followed at USD 811.8 million (9%), while “medicaments put up in measured doses” ranked third at USD 364.3 million, making up 4% of imports.
