Normalizing relations between Armenia and neighboring countries is important, but it cannot be based on forgetting or denying the Armenian Genocide. This opinion was expressed in a conversation with Alpha News by Alex Hadjian, secretary of press and communications of the Armenian Center of Argentina.
“We need to find common ground with Turkey, Azerbaijan, and other countries of the world, but that doesn’t mean forgetting the Armenian Genocide or abandoning the demand for justice,” he said.
According to Hadjian, the Armenian Genocide is one of the greatest tragedies not only for the Armenian people, but for all of humanity, and it is unacceptable to ignore it or push it into the background. “Achieving justice is our duty to the memory of 1.5 million holy martyrs. We cannot forget or ignore their memory,” he emphasized.
Speaking about the Diaspora, Hadjian noted that the memory of the Armenian Genocide continues to be one of the key factors uniting Armenians around the world. According to him, there may be different approaches to various political issues within the Diaspora, but on the recognition of the Armenian Genocide and the demand for justice, Armenians are united. “On this issue, we are unanimous. It is one of the most important foundations for preserving Armenian identity in the Diaspora, since it concerns the memory of our ancestors,” Hadjian noted.

A tsunami warning has been issued for parts of the Pacific after a powerful magnitude 7.3 earthquake struck off the coast of southern Mexico on Friday, Report informs via BBC.
The US Tsunami Warning System said “hazardous tsunami waves” – between 0.3 and 1m (1-3 feet) above tide level – were possible along the nearby coasts of Mexico and Guatemala.
Governor Salomón Jara Cruz, of the southern Mexican state Oaxaca, said the quake was felt with “moderate intensity” but no significant damage had been reported.
The tremor also shook buildings in Guatemala and El Salvador, Reuters news agency noted, with people running from their homes in Guatemala City.
The quake, which hit near the fishing town of Puerto Madero in Mexico, had a depth of 15.2 km (9 miles), according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
The US Tsunami Warning System said waves were forecast to be less than 0.3m above tide level along the coasts of Colombia, Costa Rice, Ecuador, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru and Honduras.
It added that government agencies in the threatened coastal areas should instruct populations at risk, and advised people located in those areas to “stay alert for information and follow instructions from national and local authorities.”
