The U.S.-led NATO allies and their partners incited confrontation throughout the NATO summit, held earlier this week in Ankara, Türkiye, the statement said, calling it a clear proof that the organization is “a war and confrontation body that goes against international peace and security in all parts of the world while pursuing exclusive geopolitical interests.”

“NATO is systematically exacerbating the security environment of Europe through the implementation of its reckless eastward advance policy, to maintain illegal justification for its existence which should have been extinct with the end of the Cold War, and creating instability in the Asia-Pacific region by shifting its responsibility onto other countries. Its provocative moves can never be overlooked,” said the statement.

The DPRK will defend its national sovereignty and security interests, and regional peace and stability by building up at an accelerated pace the strength capable of deterring the enemy countries’ attempts at collective confrontation and their military threats, it said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 10 km, was initially determined to be at 4.93 degrees north latitude and 125.47 degrees east longitude.

In a statement on social media platform X, the Office of the UN Special Envoy for Yemen said that Grundberg had received “renewed assurances” from both sides over the past 48 hours to implement the May agreement to release more than 1,600 conflict-related detainees, News.Az reports.

He urged both sides to intensify efforts to complete “as soon as possible the outstanding technical and operational preparations” for the exchange.

The renewed commitments came after a prisoner exchange scheduled for Saturday failed to take place. On Friday, the two sides traded accusations over the failure, with the government claiming it had completed all necessary procedures while blaming the Houthis for indefinite postponement. The Houthis, in turn, said they were fully prepared but accused the government of failing to meet its obligations.

A military source aligned with government forces told Xinhua that armed tribal protests in the southern port city of Aden against the planned release of Houthi detainees accused of terrorism-related offenses, including assassinations of senior military commanders, also contributed to the delay.

Yemen has been mired in conflict since late 2014, when the Houthis seized the capital, Sanaa, prompting a Saudi-led coalition to intervene the following year in support of the internationally recognized government.

A UN-mediated truce between the Yemeni government and the Houthis, brokered in April 2022, lasted six months before expiring, though a de facto ceasefire has largely held despite sporadic clashes.

The last major UN-mediated prisoner exchange saw around 900 detainees freed in 2023.

According to a State House statement issued here, the ceremony was held at the Kaweweta Military Training School in the central Ugandan district of Nakaseke, where 11,948 recruits of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) also graduated after completing basic military training, News.Az reports.

Museveni congratulated the graduates on successfully completing the course, which began in 2025 as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the capacity of the CAR armed forces.

“First of all, I want to congratulate the soldiers from the Central African Republic and those from Uganda who have completed this course,” Museveni said.

According to the UPDF, the training program is being implemented under a bilateral defense agreement signed in 2024 to professionalize the CAR military and enhance its capacity to address security challenges, promote peace and contribute to regional stability.

Uganda and the CAR maintain a strategic defense partnership, particularly in efforts to combat the Lord’s Resistance Army, a Ugandan rebel group that has operated in parts of the CAR for years.

The findings are contained in a conference room paper published during the 62nd session of the UN Human Rights Council, supplementing the mission’s February 2026 report titled Hallmarks of Genocide in El Fasher, News.az reports, citing reports of the UN Fact-Finding Mission.

According to the mission, continued investigations documented additional evidence of mass killings, systematic sexual violence, enforced disappearances, torture and widespread detention carried out during and after the Rapid Support Forces’ capture of El Fasher in October 2025.

The mission said it interviewed 333 survivors, reviewed more than 50 public reports, authenticated 25 videos and held more than 45 meetings with civil society organizations, human rights defenders and experts.

Investigators concluded that the new evidence reaffirms their previous findings and recommendations while further strengthening the legal basis for concluding that the violence constituted indicators of genocide.

The report also notes that Sudanese authorities continued not to cooperate with the investigation despite repeated requests.
