Activist Ahmad Mammadli sentenced to 6 years in prison


On March 16, at the Baku Court on Grave Crimes, the trial of public activist and Yoldash Media founder Ahmad Mammadli took place.
The proceedings were presided over by Judge Vugar Seyidov.
During the prosecution’s statement, the state prosecutor demanded that Ahmad Mammadli be sentenced to 9 years in prison.
After returning from deliberation, the court announced its verdict.
According to the verdict, Ahmad Mammadli was sentenced to 6 years in prison.
Ahmad Mammadli was detained on May 6, 2025, and a pre-trial detention order was issued for him on May 8.
He is accused of inflicting stab wounds to the abdominal area of a person named Vugar Dunyamaliyev.
He has been charged under Articles 126.2.4 (Intentional infliction of serious bodily harm) and 221.3 (Hooliganism: committed using a weapon or object used as a weapon) of the Criminal Code.
Ahmad Mammadli denies the charges, stating that his arrest is related to his work as a journalist.
