Final days of the Tesla Model X and S are here. All bets are on the Cybercab

Chief executive Elon Musk confirmed that custom orders for both models have ended, stating that only existing inventory is still available, News.az reports, citing TechcRunch.
***
The decision marks the gradual phase-out of two vehicles that once defined Tesla’s early success. The Tesla Model S, launched in 2012, played a key role in reshaping perceptions of electric vehicles, while the Tesla Model X, introduced in 2015, expanded the company’s reach despite early production challenges.
Sales of both models have declined sharply in recent years, overtaken by more affordable, high-volume vehicles such as the Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y. Tesla’s combined “other models” category, which includes the S, X and newer vehicles, has seen a significant drop since its peak in 2017.
Instead of replacing the models with a conventional electric vehicle, Tesla is shifting focus towards artificial intelligence and automation. The company is investing in its humanoid Optimus robot and the Tesla Cybercab, a fully autonomous two-seater vehicle without traditional controls.
Production of the Cybercab is expected to begin soon at Tesla’s Texas factory, although regulatory hurdles remain. Current US safety standards require features such as steering wheels and pedals, raising questions about when — or if — the vehicle can be deployed at scale.
Meanwhile, Tesla’s global vehicle deliveries have shown signs of slowing, despite modest growth in early 2026. Analysts say the company’s strategic shift reflects a broader ambition to reposition itself not just as an automaker, but as an artificial intelligence company.
The transition carries significant risks, particularly as autonomous driving technology and regulatory approval continue to present major challenges.

Greece reshuffles cabinet after EU farm subsidies scandal

The move follows an investigation by the European Public Prosecutor’s Office into alleged irregularities in the allocation of EU agricultural funds, News.az reports, citing BBC.
***
Government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis said key portfolios would remain unchanged despite the reshuffle, according to state broadcaster ERT.
Former European Commission vice-president Margaritis Schinas has been appointed rural development and food minister, while Evangelos Tournas will take over as climate crisis and civil protection minister.
Deputy Health Minister Dimitris Vartzopoulos, who was named in the investigation, will see his responsibilities redistributed within the ministry.
The probe centres on alleged interference in subsidy distribution, with claims that payments were made to ineligible farmers using falsified documents. The case relates to the management of OPEKEPE, the former body responsible for distributing EU farm subsidies.
Two case files have been submitted to the Greek parliament involving 11 lawmakers, as well as former ministers and officials. Proceedings to lift parliamentary immunity are expected to begin next week.
Opposition parties have called for ministerial dismissals and snap elections, and may seek a vote of no confidence in the coming weeks.

Three UN peacekeepers wounded in Lebanon, says UNIFIL

“This afternoon, an explosion inside a UN position … injured three peacekeepers, two seriously. They are all currently being evacuated to hospital. We do not yet know the origin of the explosion,” UNIFIL spokesperson Kandice Ardiel said in a statement, News.Az reports, citing foreign media.

On Sunday, an Indonesian peacekeeper was killed when a projectile exploded in a UNIFIL position, while another blast the following day killed two more Indonesian troops.

According to the UN, 97 force members have been killed in violence since UNIFIL was first established to monitor the withdrawal of Israeli forces after they invaded Lebanon in 1978.

The force’s mandate finishes at the end of this year.

Israel hits military bases, an airport, and a recreation in Iran – VIDEO

In a statement on Friday, the Israel Defense Forces said the operation was carried out in parallel with attacks on Beirut. The military said the strikes were aimed at “infrastructure of the Iranian regime” and intended to disrupt systems supporting Iran’s governing apparatus, News.Az reports.

Iranian state television, however, described the strikes as “joint American Israeli air attacks”, though there has been no immediate confirmation from Washington.

Explosions were reported across multiple parts of Tehran, with witnesses describing loud blasts throughout the capital. Among the sites reportedly hit was Mehrabad International Airport in the western part of the city, which serves both civilian and transport functions.

The Israeli military said that over the past 24 hours its air force, supported by military intelligence, had carried out more than 70 strikes across central and western Iran, targeting dozens of locations.

According to the statement, the targets included ballistic missile launch sites, facilities used to store unmanned aerial vehicles operated by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and elements of Iran’s air defence systems.

Separately, Iranian media, citing local authorities, reported an air strike on a recreational area in Tabriz, in the country’s north west.

Unverified footage circulating online appears to show a failed Iranian ballistic missile launch, with reports suggesting the projectile fell in western areas of Tehran. These claims have not been confirmed by Iranian officials.

The developments come amid heightened regional tensions, with the situation evolving rapidly and conflicting accounts emerging from both sides.

Ancient golden helmet stolen from Dutch museum retrieved one year later

The Cotofenesti helmet was found more than a year after it was taken in January 2025, and unveiled this week — under armed guard — at the Drents Museum in Assen, in the northeastern part of the Netherlands, News.Az reports, citing foreign media.

The helmet had been on loan to the museum when it was taken.

“We are incredibly pleased,” Corien Fahner, chief prosecutor for the North Netherlands Public Prosecution Service, said during a press conference unveiling the recovered piece. “It has been a roller-coaster. Especially for Romania, but also for employees of the Drents Museum.”

Three men were arrested last year soon after they allegedly broke into the museum using a homemade firework bomb and a sledgehammer and took off with the helmet, sparking fears that its nearly unsaleable fame would prompt them to melt it down.

Grainy security video released by police after the attack showed thieves opening the door with a large crowbar and then causing an explosion.

Romanian Justice Minister Radu Marinescu called the incident a “crime against our state,” adding that recovering the treasures “is an absolute priority.”

Two of three gold wristbands stolen during the heist have also been recovered. Fahner said authorities are still searching for the third bracelet.

The return of the pieces stemmed from a deal made with the men.

The artifacts were on display for the last weekend in the museum as part of a six-month exhibit when they were stolen.

“The helmet is slightly dented, but there will be no permanent damage,” Drents Museum director Robert van Langh said during the news conference. “The armbands are in perfect condition.”

The suspects’ trial is expected to start later this month.
