Wildfires continued to rage across southwestern France as flames advanced towards Bordeaux, forcing about 220,000 people to evacuate across the country.
Authorities said the blazes had destroyed hundreds of homes, injured dozens of firefighters and disrupted transport services.
Firefighters are working to prevent the flames from reaching Bordeaux, with officials describing the situation as unprecedented and highly unfavourable.
