Serbia has officially joined NASA’s Artemis Accords space program, the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told Report‘s Balkan bureau.
It was noted that Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Đurić signed the accession agreement at NASA headquarters in Washington.
Đurić emphasized that this step reaffirms Serbia’s commitment to international law, scientific progress, and joint cooperation among states in space exploration.
He noted that the Artemis Accords are based on the 1967 Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space, including the Moon and other celestial bodies, as well as the broader framework of international space law guiding peaceful exploration for decades.
The minister stated that although Serbia is not a spacefaring nation, the country holds an important place in the history of space exploration.
“Serbia continues to invest in science, technology, and innovation, and membership in the Artemis program will create new opportunities for our research institutes, universities, companies, and young scientists to cooperate with international partners,” Đurić said.
