French President Emmanuel Macron’s historic visit to Damascus marked a pivotal moment in Syrian-French relations and opened a new phase of partnership based on mutual respect and shared interests, Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani said in a post on X, Report informs.

Shaibani said the visit was crowned by the signing of memorandums of understanding and the launch of strategic cooperation tracks, reflecting growing international confidence in Syria and its role in strengthening security and stability.

He said the Syrian state continues to protect its citizens, safeguard security and stability, and confront terrorism in all its forms, describing this as the foundation for recovery and development.

According to the minister, competent authorities are following up on all incidents, and any party or individual proven to be involved in targeting Syria’s security or the safety of its citizens will be held accountable under the law.

Shaibani said attempts to obstruct Syria’s path or undermine its security and stability would not change the fact that the country is moving steadily toward reclaiming its regional and international role.

“Supporting Syria today means supporting regional stability,” he said, adding that growing international partnerships confirm that the era of isolation is over and that the future is built on cooperation, development and shared interests.
