NATO leaders concluded the first day of the alliance’s summit in Ankara with a family photo at the Turkish Presidential Palace. Those in attendance included Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, U.S. President Donald Trump, French President Emmanuel Macron and invited guest, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The opening day was marked by major defence announcements, including new arms deals and renewed commitments by allies to increase military spending.
