Pope Leo XIV says doctors have found a small, localised nodule on his lung and that he will undergo surgery in the coming days to have it removed. The 71-year-old pope said the growth was detected at an early stage and is “well contained”. The Vatican has not said whether it is malignant, and expects his recovery from the surgery to take about a week.
