Nepal Prime Minister Balendra Shah called for grant-based international support at the UN General Assembly to help the country recover from a glacier flood in August that killed at least 1,450 people. Shah said reconstruction needs were estimated at about 10 per cent of Nepal’s GDP. He also urged Nepal, India and China to strengthen cooperation on climate resilience, including early-warning systems and the monitoring of glacial lakes.
