The flags at the Secretariat of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) were flown at half-mast in solidarity with Kazakhstan, where September 25 has been declared a day of national mourning for servicemen who lost their lives.
According to Report, citing the OTS, the organization paid tribute to the Kazakh servicemen who died during exercises in the Caspian Sea.
“The national flags have been lowered in solidarity with the brotherly people of Kazakhstan and in memory of the servicemen who died during exercises conducted by the country’s naval forces. On this day of mourning, we share the grief of the people of Kazakhstan, as well as the families and loved ones of those who died, and express our deepest condolences,” the OTS said in a statement.
On September 24, servicemen were swept out to sea during exercises in the Caspian due to a sudden deterioration in weather conditions. Fourteen people were killed.
Georgia’s Interior Ministry said it detained a suspect with links to a “Nazi-fascist” ideology who had previously been convicted and was serving a suspended sentence, over two episodes of ill-treatment of minors. The accused faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
The ministry said in a September 25 statement that in 2023, “one of the leaders of a group with a ‘Nazi-fascist’ ideology, together with fellow group members, lured an acquaintance to an abandoned area in Tbilisi under false pretenses,” where they assaulted the minor with various “blunt objects” and subjected him to “inhuman and degrading treatment.”
The ministry did not specify whether the detainee was the leader of the group or one of its members.
The investigation further established that in 2025, the suspect organized the group assault and degrading and inhuman treatment of another minor, the ministry said.
It added that the probe revealed that the “accused’s associates filmed, on a mobile phone, video footage depicting the physical and psychological coercion and degrading acts committed against the minor, with the intention of posting it online.”
The suspect was detained following “complex investigative and procedural actions” and based on a judge’s ruling, according to the ministry.
“Some of the individuals involved in these crimes are already serving their sentences in a penitentiary institution,” the ministry said, adding that investigative actions are ongoing to identify other individuals connected to violent groups holding fascist ideology.
The ministry did not disclose the detainee’s identity. However, RFE/RL’s Georgian service reported that the person detained is reportedly Davit Japarov.
Georgian police have arrested at least 15 minors in recent months, including in January and March, on allegations of involvement in “neo-Nazi” and “radical fascist” groups that physically and psychologically abused people of various ages, including minors, with “extreme cruelty.”

The European Commission has launched infringement proceedings over EU member states’ implementation of directives aimed at combating human trafficking and money laundering.
According to Report‘s European bureau, proceedings have been launched against 20 countries over the incomplete transposition into national legislation of the revised EU directive on combating human trafficking. They include Greece, Belgium, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland and Romania.
The revised directive strengthens criminal penalties for new forms of exploitation, including those occurring in the digital environment, and provides additional measures for investigating such crimes and protecting victims.
Separately, the EC sent notices to 18 countries over shortcomings in combating money laundering and incomplete implementation of EU legislation. They include Belgium, Greece, Germany, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania and Finland.
