The Formula 2 sprint race at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku has concluded, with Sweden’s Dino Beganovic taking victory.

According to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan’s statistical bulletin, the figure increased by ₼1.496 billion ($880 million), or 2.5%, compared with the end of July. Since the beginning of the year, bank assets have grown by ₼5.390 billion ($3.170 billion), or 9.4%.

The National Bank of Georgia (NBG) made net purchases of USD 555.6 million through the BMatch trading platform in August, bringing the country’s international reserves to USD 8.14 billion, the central bank said on September 25.

The NBG said its net purchases totaled USD 3.12 billion in January-August 2026, as it continues to build up foreign exchange reserves when market conditions allow. It described international reserves as “an important safeguard for the country’s macroeconomic stability.”

The latest purchases follow net purchases of USD 86.6 million in January, USD 429.3 million in February, USD 333.3 million in April, USD 632.9 million in May, USD 612.6 million in June, USD 488.2 million in July, as well as USD 16.2 million in net sales in March.

The purchases are part of the central bank’s broader policy of rebuilding its foreign exchange reserves over the past year.

Speaking at a regional meeting of central bank senior officials held in Tbilisi on September 18, NBG President Natia Turnava said that Georgia’s “international reserves have reached an all-time high,” arguing that it “has strengthened our ability to withstand external shocks and safeguard macroeconomic stability,” amid what she described as “today’s turbulent global economic environment.”

The central bank is expected to publish updated international reserves data on October 26, 2026.

“Our approach to investment goes beyond attracting capital,” President Ilham Aliyev said in his address to the participants of the 2nd Azerbaijan International Investment Forum.

Interest in the Formula 1 volunteer programme at the Baku City Circuit continues to grow, with this year’s programme receiving the highest number of applications in the past decade.

“Our country’s global strategic partnerships and growing foreign investment in the non-oil sector are paving the way for deeper integration into global value chains in areas such as manufacturing, trade, energy, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and advanced technologies,” President Ilham Aliyev said in his address to the participants of the 2nd Azerbaijan International Investment Forum.
