Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that a suspect detained in connection with the murder of the Russian artist who was known for his caricatures of Vladimir Putin and Ramzan Kadyrov is “using a Georgian passport.”
Tusk wrote on X on June 18 that a suspect has been detained by the police of Lublin, a Polish city, and the Polish Internal Security Agency (ABW), noting that the suspect is “using a Georgian passport” and that work is underway to determine the person who ordered the crime.
Russian artist Robert Kuzovkov, also known as Semyon Skrepetsky, was shot dead by an “unidentified gunman” early on June 15 in Biała Podlaska, a small Polish town near the Belarusian border, where he had been granted asylum in 2021. He was known for his caricatures of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, and Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenka, among others.
Polish authorities initially detained two Belarusian citizens in connection with the murder, but later said they were released as no links could be established with the crime.
