NATO member states will announce the signing of defense contracts worth tens of billions of dollars at the summit to be held in Ankara, Türkiye, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said in an article for The Washington Post, Report informs.
Rutte noted that the new agreements will be signed with companies from Europe and North America. In addition, the summit will present new investments in key technologies aimed at strengthening security and developing the defense industry, he said.
The Secretary General emphasized that NATO countries intend to demonstrate how they are increasing investments in defense, redistributing responsibility for their own security, and reinforcing the industrial base.
The NATO summit will take place in Ankara on July 7–8. The main topics of the meeting will include Euro‑Atlantic security, the situation around Ukraine, and the alliance’s southern flank.
