President Ilham Aliyev approves power supply and transit deal with Georgia

President Ilham Aliyev has approved the agreement between the governments of Azerbaijan and Georgia on the supply of electricity to Georgia and the transit of electricity through Georgian territory, according to a presidential decree.

The agreement was signed in Baku on May 18, 2026.

Under the decree, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Energy will be responsible for implementing the provisions of the agreement once it enters into force.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been instructed to notify the Georgian government upon completion of the domestic procedures required for the agreement to take effect.
