Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has endorsed the Trump administration’s decision to impose sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC), the Israeli prime minister’s office said in a post on X.

According to Report, Netanyahu said he highly appreciated the decision by US President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio to impose sanctions on the ICC. He described the court as a political body rather than a judicial institution, claiming that it posed a mortal threat to law-abiding democracies around the world and the very concept of national sovereignty. He also thanked them for their leadership.

Earlier, Netanyahu criticised the Nobel Committee’s decision to award the Nobel Peace Prize to Navi Pillay, accusing it of having “lost its moral compass.” He claimed that Pillay had spread false allegations against Israel and accused her of assisting former ICC prosecutor Karim Khan in building a case against Israel.

On Friday, the United States imposed sanctions on the ICC, just hours after former ICC Appeals Chamber judge Navi Pillay was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
