Merz, Pashinyan discuss Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz discussed the peace process between Yerevan and Baku, as well as the situation in Ukraine and the Middle East, during a phone call with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Report informs, citing TASS.

German government spokesperson Stefan Kornelius told journalists that the leaders exchanged views on the current situation in the Middle East, the conflict in Ukraine and their impact on the South Caucasus region.

Kornelius said the German chancellor called for further steps in the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan and stressed its importance for regional stability.

He added that the sides also discussed prospects for expanding bilateral relations between Germany and Armenia, as well as the further development of Armenia’s ties with the European Union.
