Georgia’s strategic currency reserves reach $7.1B

In June 2026, the National Bank of Georgia (NBG) continued to increase the country’s international reserves by taking advantage of favorable conditions in the currency market.

According to Report‘s Georgian bureau, citing the National Bank, net foreign currency purchases in June amounted to $612.6 million. As a result, by the end of the month, Georgia’s total international reserves had risen to $7.1 billion.

The NBG emphasized that international reserves are one of the key guarantees of the country’s macroeconomic stability, and therefore it consistently pursues a policy of strengthening reserves whenever market conditions allow.

It was also highlighted that interventions carried out on the Bmatch platform in June contributed to the increase of $612.6 million.

Overall, net foreign currency purchases by the NBG surpassed $2.078 billion in the first half of 2026.
