Death Toll from Venezuela earthquake exceeds 3,500

The number of fatalities from the devastating earthquake in Venezuela has reached 3,535, Jorge Rodríguez, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Bolivarian Republic, announced on Telegram, Report informs via Venezuelan media outlets.

He also provided details on rescue and relief efforts: “16,740 people were injured, 17,854 were left homeless, 190 buildings were completely destroyed, and 856 sustained serious damage. Search and rescue operations saved 6,462 people, 25,016 received treatment in hospitals and medical facilities, 86,794 families were assisted, and 9,603 tons of food were delivered to those affected.”

On the night of June 25, a 7.1‑magnitude earthquake struck northern Venezuela. The US Geological Survey later reported two additional tremors of 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude within 40 seconds.
