Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Imangali Tasmagambetov will visit Yerevan upon the conclusion of the organization’s summit in Minsk to hand over the signed documents to the Armenian side, Belarusian Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik told reporters before the start of the session of the CSTO Collective Security Council.

He voiced hope that Armenian would join the decisions made during the summit. Aleinik stressed that the task of the CSTO is to maintain the solidarity of all member countries.

“Today, the most important thing is to preserve the solidarity and unity of all members of the organization. We, in fact, demonstrated this yesterday during a joint meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers, Council of Defense Ministers and Secretaries of the Security Councils of the CSTO member countries,” the minister said.

“We are working for unity. We are looking for mutually acceptable solutions. Naturally, not all problems are resolved immediately,” noted the Belarussian Foreign Minister.

Aleynik stressed that all decisions that will be made at the summit in the absence of Armenian representatives are “absolutely legitimate.” “They are adopted by consensus. And I had a telephone conversation with my Armenian colleague Ararat Mirzoyan. We discussed, among other things, these issues and decision-making mechanisms,” the Minister noted.
