Body of ship’s captain killed off coast of Odesa buried in Azerbaijan’s Lankaran

The body of Captain Samad Nasrullayev, who died in an attack on a vessel off the coast of Ukraine’s Odesa, was delivered to the Lankaran district, Report informs.

After a farewell ceremony in his home village of Baligchilar, his body was interred at the local cemetery.

On July 14, the civilian merchant vessel Atlas Bey, owned by the Turkish company Okean Maritime, was attacked by a drone off the coast of Odesa.

Eleven Azerbaijani citizens were on board, one of whom, the captain, was killed.

With the assistance of the Azerbaijani diplomatic mission in Kyiv, 10 Azerbaijani citizens evacuated from the vessel were repatriated via Moldova on July 15.

A day later, on July 16, Nasrullayev’s body was recovered and delivered to Odessa.
