What happened to Prosperous Armenia Party leader Gagik Tsarukyan demonstrates the state’s lack of basic humane treatment toward its citizens. This was written on Facebook by Arsen Julfalakian, wrestler, world and European champion, and candidate of historical sciences.
“I’ve said this many times already.
Expect anything from the people/political team who surrendered Artsakh… The Constitution, the Church, its leaders, the memory of the Armenian Genocide, history, traditions, family — they defile everything indiscriminately.
Armenia is occupied by an enemy, with all the consequences that entails… Today, after blatantly falsified elections, we are witnessing an ugly political perversion. Absolute legal impunity and total control over all state institutions.
I have had no relationship with Gagik Tsarukyan since February 2020. We met once in Paris, when he came to watch a wrestling competition. It’s known that we hold different political views. Overall, we are very different in our approaches, both in politics and in sport.
But what was done to Gagik Tsarukyan today is simply disgraceful. And this isn’t only about him. It demonstrates the state’s lack of basic humane treatment toward its citizens.
When dozens of security officers throw a 70-year-old man to the ground in his own home, when he is alone, offering no resistance, and ready to calmly comply with lawful demands, that is the height of baseness.
It’s an attempt by sick, morally bankrupt, weak people to conceal their own worthlessness through a show of force. Such people will meet a far harsher end,” he wrote.
