Destination Season 2 Premiere unveils the unique legacy of the Christian heritage within Azerbaijan, anchored in the magnificent history of the Kingdom of Caucasian Albania.   Shot on location in Kalbajar, Aghdaran, Khojavand, Barda, Nij, Kish and Baku, Destination Caucasian Albania uncovers Azerbaijan as one of the cradles Christianity in the world, revealing such inheritance from its first-century Apostolic origins in Kish village through to contemporary expressions of multiculturalism and tolerance across the country.

The episode maps out this expansive visual arc through the arrival of Christianity brought directly from Jerusalem by St. Eliseus at the Mother Church of Kish, the birth of literacy at the Amaras Monastery, the zenith of statehood and power in Barda tracing the monumental diplomatic footprints of the Great Prince Javanshir, the political, spiritual, and administrative autonomy of Gandzasar and Khudavang, and the living continuity preserved across millennia by the native Udi community in Nij.

Destination Caucasian Albania climaxes in the elite geopolitical voice and absolute authority of Ambassador Dr. Farid Shafiyev, Chairman of the Center for Analysis of International Relations and Multiculturalism, bridging history to the present day through a masterclass analysis of how the ancient heritage of Caucasian Albania directly forms the foundation of modern Azerbaijani values.

This cross-country journey reveals a twenty-one-century heritage that has always been fiercely guarded across turbulent imperial waves and geopolitical fractures, remaining protected today through the modern institutions and initiatives of a mature and progressive State that guarantee its safety for another twenty-one centuries.

Infusing every segment with raw human gravity and verified facts while allowing indigenous history to speak for itself, the narrative proves that the history of the Christian heritage in Azerbaijan is a remarkable example of religious co-existence in today’s polarized world, establishing an undeniable case study in national identity.
