Belgian police used tear gas and pepper spray during clashes with demonstrators in Brussels on Saturday. Protesters called for better conditions and increased funding for the education system.
Hundreds of mainly young demonstrators gathered to continue protests held in recent months, accusing police of excessive violence and demanding more investment in education.
Witnesses reported seeing officers pursue protesters and hit and kick one demonstrator. Protesters also threw road signs and other objects onto a pile of rental scooters and bicycles and attempted to set it on fire.
