Tens of thousands of people took to the streets of Paris on Saturday to protest rising living costs and growing inequality.
Authorities estimated that 110,000 people attended the demonstration, while the CGT trade union put the turnout at 250,000.
The nationwide protest movement began with student demonstrations in suburban Paris last month over school conditions before expanding into broader discontent over France’s economic situation.
The protests have since spread to neighbouring countries.
