Netanyahu blames New York mayor’s anti Israel rhetoric for synagogue stabbing

Listen to this article

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani of fuelling hatred and antisemitism, saying the mayor’s criticism of Israel had contributed to fear among Jewish New Yorkers.

Netanyahu also sought to link Mamdani’s rhetoric to the recent stabbing of a Jewish man outside a New York synagogue. No direct connection has been established.

He said he would use his upcoming address to the United Nations to “speak the truth” and defend Israel and the U.S.–Israel alliance.
