China appreciates Pakistan’s mediation role in resolving the conflict between the US and Iran and intends to continue supporting Islamabad’s efforts in this direction, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
According to Report, the statement was released Saturday following talks between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his Pakistani counterpart Ishaq Dar.
Wang Yi noted that Beijing appreciates Pakistan’s role in achieving a memorandum of mutual understanding between Iran and the US, and will help ensure the parties return to dialogue and negotiations, as well as achieve a sustained halt to military operations.
The Chinese FM also stressed that China is ready to strengthen cooperation with Pakistan within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the United Nations, jointly defending the interests of both countries and the legitimate rights of Global South states.
