Large smoke plumes rise from wildfire zones in Canada

Canada is facing one of its most intense wildfire seasons on record, with new fires spreading across western provinces and evacuation orders issued in British Columbia.

Nearly 34,000 lightning strikes over the past week have triggered multiple blazes, while officials warn that hot and dry conditions could fuel further growth. Smoke from Canadian wildfires has also affected parts of the United States this summer.
