Arman Markaryan, humorist, writer and producer, spoke in the Alpha News studio about the path he has traveled, family values and the real price of success in the comedy field.
Arman’s life journey is tied to several cities: he was born in Yerevan, grew up in Pasadena, and now lives in Burbank. He describes his childhood in an Armenian family in the US as a unique and at times confusing experience.
“Inside the house was Armenia, and outside was America; at home, Armenian culture, language, traditions, and outside, a completely different environment. For our generation this was sometimes hard to understand, since our parents had only just moved there. They didn’t fully understand what was happening in American society, yet they often thought they did. So our generation made a lot of mistakes, went through a lot of difficulties, but in the end we overcame them,” he noted.
Speaking about raising future children as Armenians, Markaryan stressed that Armenian culture is preserved above all through love. “When you truly love something, you want your children to love it too. If you’re genuinely devoted to a language, music or tradition, that love naturally passes on,” he stressed․
