An appeal has been filed with the Criminal Court of Appeals of the Republic of Armenia by the defense, requesting a review of the pretrial detention measure against Gagik Tsarukyan, leader of PAP. This was reported by Emin Khachatryan, lawyer, on his Facebook page.
“We inform you that the defense’s appeal for a special review of the pretrial detention measure against Gagik Tsarukyan has been submitted to the Criminal Court of Appeals of the Republic of Armenia.
The appeal details the violations of substantive and procedural law committed by the court of first instance, as well as the defense’s arguments regarding reasonable suspicion, the lawfulness of the arrest and detention, and the possibility of applying alternative pretrial measures.
The defense hopes that the Court of Appeals will provide a full, objective, and impartial assessment of the circumstances of the case, ensuring effective protection of the right to a fair trial and personal liberty,” the statement reads.
