Journalists and diplomats gathered in Baku for the “Media and Decolonization” conference put together by the Baku Initiative Group, to examine ways through which former colonial territories can reclaim their narratives and strengthen local media voices.
Participants discussed strategies to challenge lingering colonial perspectives, promote local languages, and amplify authentic stories. The forum concluded with a joint declaration emphasising the importance of independent regional journalism and international collaboration.
