U.S. President Donald Trump referred to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni as a “nice person”, but said their relationship ‘soured’ after she refused to help with Iran.
Once close allies, ties between the two leaders seemed to cool when Trump disclosed to Italian TV channel La7 that Meloni “begged” him to take a photo with her at a G7 summit in France. Meloni rejected the statement and accused him of making up the story.
