On May 13, the Legal Committee of the Parliament voted in third and final hearing for the adoption of the Foreign Agents Law against the background of the overnight protests of the citizens against the law. The deliberations of the committee lasted mere 55 seconds without the majority of the opposition MPs, who were not allowed to enter the Parliament by the police.

The Committee meeting was attended by only few of the Georgian Dream MPs. Anri Okhanashvili, the Committee Chair, started the voting process before the MPs were even able to sit down. The whole process lasted for seconds.

Meanwhile, multiple detentions of peaceful protesters are being reported, as well as cases of police brutality.

The GD majority plans to adopt the law, in its third and final hearing, during the plenary session scheduled for May 14.
