A Russian strike on a school being used as a humanitarian aid distribution point in Ukraine’s southeastern Zaporizhzhia region killed 26 people on Monday, Ukrainian officials said.

The attack hit the village of Komyshuvakha, where the school also served as a shelter. Ukraine’s emergency services said two rescue workers and four police officers were among those killed.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said there were no classes at the school because the village was too close to the front line. Humanitarian aid was distributed there every Monday.

Russia did not immediately comment on the reported attack.
