General Andranik Memorial Museum in Bulgaria prepares to welcome its first visitors
Preparations are nearing completion for the opening of the house museum dedicated to legendary Armenian military commander & national hero Andranik Ozanian in Varna’s Galata district. Final finishing work is already underway, according to the museum’s official page.
The memorial has a symbolic connection to the First Balkan War of 1912–1913, during which Andranik Ozanian & Garegin Nzhdeh served in the Bulgarian Army & fought against the Ottoman Empire. In recognition of his heroism, Ozanian was promoted to officer, granted Bulgarian citizenship & a lifetime pension, and awarded Bulgaria’s highest state distinction—the Golden Cross for Bravery—as well as the Silver Crosses for Bravery, Third & Fourth Class.
