Opening the 7th CICA Summit in Baku, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev highlighted Azerbaijan’s strategic role as a transit hub bridging Asia and Europe. He also called for non-interference and equal treatment in international relations.
Aliyev mentioned long-standing international double standards regarding the past occupation of Azerbaijan’s territories and the failure to implement four UN Security Council resolutions adopted in 1993.
He noted that while Azerbaijan’s sovereignty has been fully restored, peace with Armenia remains fragile and should be protected.
Outlining Azerbaijan’s priorities as CICA chair, he urged expanded regional cooperation in transport connectivity, digitalisation, environmental protection, and trade.
