Azerbaijan and Türkiye have submitted a joint bid to have the traditional art of making baklava, or pakhlava, inscribed on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list.
The nomination highlights the dessert as a shared cultural tradition deeply rooted in both countries, where it has been passed down through generations and remains an important part of Novruz, religious festivals and family celebrations.
UNESCO is expected to decide on the application during its 21st session in Xiamen, China, from 30 November to 5 December.
