Iran says failed U.S. missile hit Kuwait airport, blames Gulf

This comes after Kuwait banished two Iranian diplomats and declared them persona non grata, giving them 24 hours to leave the country,  News.Az reports, citing The Jerusalem Post.
***
Iran’s charge d’affairs was summoned after the strikes, and Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry reduced the number of Iranian diplomats in the country.
Notably, Iran had originally said that Kuwait and Bahrain bore “direct and clear responsibility” for the attack on the airport and the attacks on the region, alleging their territory and facilities had been used to support US military operations against Iran.
Tehran said it reserved the right to self-defense and would use all available means to respond, including by targeting the source of any future attacks.
One person died, and over 60 people were injured after Iran targeted Kuwait International Airport with missiles and drones. Several flights were diverted from the airport, and all aviation traffic in the country was suspended.
Some structural damage was sustained to Terminal One of the airport.

UK, France renew “one in, one out” deal

The scheme came into force in September last year and enables the UK to deport some of the migrants who are deemed not to have a right to stay after landing on its shores, News.Az reports, citing TRT World.
***
In return, Britain accepts an equal number of migrants from France who are likely to have their asylum claim granted, giving priority to nationalities most vulnerable to smugglers and those with ties to the UK.
“It has been decided with our British partner to extend this agreement until October 1, 2026,” France’s minister delegate for Europe, Emmanuel Haddad, told a parliamentary committee on Wednesday.
“As of May 1, there had been 606 readmissions to France for 588 legal admissions to the United Kingdom,” Haddad said.

Zelenskyy secures air defence assistance after meeting Norwegian PM

Zelenskyy thanked Støre for expressing condolences over the tragic consequences of Russian large-scale strikes on 2 June, News.Az reports, citing European Pravda.
***
“We discussed air defense supplies – Norway is ready to help, thank you!” Zelenskyy wrote on X, without providing further details.
Zelenskyy added that work is also underway to ensure that Europe develops its own capabilities to intercept ballistic missiles.
“We must fully accomplish this shared task and provide Europe with its own system strong enough to protect against ballistic threats. When Europe is protected against ballistic missiles, it will boost confidence not just for someone alone on our continent, but truly for all Europeans. We are also preparing for meetings in the near future – there will be special formats for our work,” he added.
In early May, Norway allocated about US$303 million for the purchase of US weapons for Ukraine under NATO’s Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) programme.
Recently, Ukrainian Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov revealed that more than 90% of Ukraine’s means of countering ballistic missiles are supplied through PURL.
Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence has also stated that partner countries’ contributions to PURL are currently sufficient to continue supplying Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Zelenskyy wrote a letter to US President Donald Trump and members of Congress last week, highlighting shortages of air defence systems and noting that the pace of deliveries through PURL is failing to keep up with actual needs.

Dutch judge rules against canceling Kanye performances

Ye has drawn widespread controversy in recent years for a series of antisemitic remarks, leaving Dutch authorities under mounting pressure to cancel the events on June 6 and 8, News.Az reports, citing Irish news.
***
The Central Jewish Council filed the emergency lawsuit on Tuesday, arguing that Ye should be banned from the country for voicing admiration for Adolf Hitler and selling T-shirts featuring swastikas.
According to the Amsterdam District Court, there were no grounds to bar Ye from performing. “There are no indications that West’s presence in the coming days will lead to concrete public order dangers,” the court said in a statement.
The Central Jewish Council expressed disappointment with the ruling.
“The feeling we are getting is that it is OK if you are antisemitic,” Chanan Hertzberger, the organization’s chairman, told The Associated Press.Lawmakers in the Netherlands supported a motion to bar Ye from entering the country but the country’s immigration minister said there was no legal basis for such a move. Ye’s remarks were “reprehensible” but there was “no reason to bar him”, Bart van den Brink told journalists last week.
The 48-year-old was set to perform his first European dates in more than a decade. In April, he was barred from entering the UK over his remarks, setting off a series of cancellations. Shows in Italy and Poland have been scrapped.
More than 100,000 fans turned out in Istanbul on Saturday evening to watch Ye’s first performance in Turkey.
Concert organizers say 70,000 tickets have been sold for the two shows at the Gelredome in the eastern Dutch city of Arnhem.
Ye apologised in January through a full-page advertisement in The Wall Street Journal, stating that his bipolar disorder led him to fall into “a four-month long, manic episode of psychotic, paranoid and impulsive behaviour that destroyed my life”.

Is Ecuador facing another major organized crime atrocity?

The Prosecutor General’s Office said on X that prosecutors and police recovered the bodies in the Las Cañitas area, along the Jujan-Babahoyo road, News.az reports, citing Xinhua.

***

Local media, citing police sources, reported that the alert was received by the ECU-911 emergency system, after which specialized police units were sent to the scene.

Preliminary investigations suggest the bodies had been abandoned. Investigators also found a sign on top of the sacks with messages allegedly linked to organized criminal groups, local media reported.

Authorities said identifying the victims is a priority as they seek to determine whether the remains correspond to eight young people, aged between 15 and 31, who were reported missing on May 31 in the municipality of Milagro, in the southwestern province of Guayas.

The missing youths had traveled on four motorcycles to Milagro to complete an administrative procedure. Their last communication was in the afternoon, after which contact was lost.

SpaceX eyes record IPO at nearly $1.8 trillion valuation.

The rocket and satellite company, formally known as Space Exploration Technologies Corp., plans to list its Class A shares on Nasdaq and Nasdaq Texas under the ticker symbol “SPCX.” At the proposed offering price, SpaceX would have a market value of roughly $1.77 trillion based on its outstanding shares, placing it among the world’s most valuable publicly traded companies, News.Az reports, citing Seeking Alpha.

****

The IPO is expected to be a watershed moment for both the space industry and public markets. At approximately $75 billion, the offering would eclipse Saudi Aramco’s record $29.4 billion IPO in 2019 and rank as the largest stock market debut ever completed.

The transaction could also clear a path for other highly valued artificial intelligence companies to pursue public listings. Investors have poured capital into AI-related businesses over the past two years, and a successful SpaceX debut could further strengthen demand for large-scale technology and infrastructure offerings.

For years, investors seeking exposure to SpaceX have largely been limited to private markets and secondary share transactions. The IPO would provide public investors with direct access to one of the world’s most closely watched aerospace companies while creating a public valuation benchmark for the rapidly expanding commercial space economy.
