In a strongly worded statement, the United Nations‘ top aid official has condemned the recent Israeli attack on a humanitarian relief convoy, expressing deep concern over the impact on ongoing efforts to provide critical assistance in the region.
UN aid chief Martin Griffiths says “attack on humanitarian workers are unlawful” after UNRWA (UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees) said Israelis opened fire on aid convoy travelling on an authorized route.
The UN aid chief called for an immediate and impartial investigation into the incident, emphasizing the need to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the attack and hold those responsible accountable.
The UN is addressing the immediate needs of the affected population and ensuring the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid. The incident underscores the challenges faced by relief organizations operating in conflict zones and the critical importance of upholding humanitarian principles to protect vulnerable communities caught in the crossfire.
