Apply for the 2024 AYF Internship in Armenia!

The Armenian Youth Federation – Youth Organization of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (AYF-YOARF) Eastern United States is pleased to announce that the Intern application for the 2024 AYF Internship in Armenia is now open! The program dates are from June 14-August 16.

The AYF Internship in Armenia program was started in 1992 to encourage Armenians in the Diaspora to visit and volunteer in Armenia. Over the past 31 years, the AYF has sent over 180 participants to Armenia and organized internships with Armenia’s universities, hospitals, clinics, healthcare and support centers, as well as its engineering and technology companies, just to name a few. The Internship in Armenia program turns the homeland into a reality by exposing interns to the people and culture of present day Armenia.

The program seeks motivated people who are willing to devote their summer to volunteer in Armenia. The Diaspora serves as a valuable resource in the growth and stability of Armenia, and as an intern, you can contribute to Armenia’s progress. Volunteers are placed in government agencies, private companies and NGOs related to their career and interests, with internships available in almost every field. During the week, participants volunteer at their assigned internship. On weekends, interns embark on tours outside of Yerevan. Applicants will also have the option to participate in the Camp Javakhk program for one week.

The Internship Director will also provide opportunities for interns to attend a weekly lecture series, cultural events and any other activities in which the interns may show interest. All applicants must be between 18-28 years of age and have a valid passport. AYF membership is not necessary.

Those interested in participating can apply at ayf.org/internship.

The AYF Internship application has a soft deadline of February 1, 2024.

If you are interested in a two-month summer internship program in Yerevan, where you will climb the mountains and hills of Armenia, swim in the waters of Lake Sevan, interact with the villagers of Datev and explore the churches of every corner of Armenia, then don’t hesitate to apply to the 2024 AYF-YOARF Internship in Armenia program!

Please contact the Central Internship Council via email at internship@ayf.org if you have any questions.

Member event at Armenian Museum of America mixes art, philanthropy and community

WATERTOWN, Mass.—The Armenian Museum of America’s second annual Members Reception and Christmas Gallery Stroll on Dec. 7 was a huge success, with more than 125 members in attendance. It was a lively evening of networking, enjoying art and supporting our compatriots in Armenia who were displaced from Artsakh.

Guests enjoyed Armenian and Christmas songs performed by pianist Levon Hovsepian and were welcomed by remarks from Museum President Michele Kolligian and Executive Director Jason Sohigian.

Last month the Museum announced a fundraising drive, which was offered to everyone in attendance and is still available online and in the Gift Shop. 100-percent of proceeds from the purchase of the new line of Michael Aram Christmas ornaments in the Museum’s Gift Shop will go towards humanitarian relief for the Armenians of Artsakh.

Reflecting on the current situation, Museum President Michele Kolligian remarked: “Our mission to preserve and share Armenian art, history and culture has never been more important. The genocide of innocent Armenians living in Artsakh and 120,000 people forced to flee from their homeland was beyond horrific. To add to these evil and vicious acts, the Azeris have been destroying our ancient churches, monuments, museums and any other reminder of Armenia’s religious and cultural contributions to history and are actually claiming Armenian artifacts as their own! It is important now more than ever to preserve our cultural history, which is housed here in the largest Armenian museum outside of Armenia.”

A number of students volunteered at the member appreciation event. These girls helped with ornament sales benefitting Armenians from Artsakh. They are pictured in front of Ara Oshagan’s scrolls that depict people and places in Artsakh photographed from 1999-2007. (Photo: Daniel Ayriyan)

A number of Museum Trustees were in attendance along with artist Ara Oshagan, who guests had the chance to meet and discuss his “Disrupted, Borders” installation in the Adele and Haig Der Manuelian Galleries.   • training aimed at improving living conditions;
  • property or equipment;
  • establishing small businesses;
  • assistance in job placement;
  • enhancing agricultural development;
  • psychological services;
  • referral to other structures according to the need.

Qatar Airways fires crew and bans YouTuber Josh Cahill

Qatar Airways, the state-owned flag carrier of Qatar, has reportedly fired some of its crew members and banned a popular YouTuber from flying with the airline.

Josh Cahill, a YouTuber who has more than half a million subscribers on his channel, is known for reviewing flights and airlines around the world. He recently posted a video where he criticized Qatar Airways for its decline in service quality and customer care.

The video made a storm inside Qatar Airways where there is unconfirmed news of several crew members being fired.

According to Cahill, he was denied boarding on his flight from Abu Dhabi to Bangkok via Doha, after being told by the airline staff that he was banned from flying with Qatar Airways because of his negative video.

Youtubers influencing videos and positive ratings for such kinds of businesses has become a fast trend but when there are negative reviews for such giant organizations it makes them fury who were always expecting positive feedback to cover up their grey areas.
