The Republican presidential primary debate on Wednesday night was marked by heated exchanges and sharp disagreements, especially between Vivek Ramaswamy, a biotech entrepreneur and author, and Nikki Haley, a former U.N. ambassador and governor of South Carolina.
Ramaswamy, who has been gaining momentum in the polls, accused Haley of being a “corrupt” and “hypocritical” politician. He also challenged the legitimacy of the debate moderators.
Haley fired back at Ramaswamy, calling him “scum” and “a liar” who has no experience in governing or diplomacy.
The debate highlighted the ideological and generational divide within the GOP, as well as the different strategies and visions for the 2024 election. Ramaswamy appealed to the populist and anti-establishment base of the party, while Haley tried to present herself as a pragmatic and experienced leader who can appeal to a broader coalition of voters.
The next debate is scheduled for January 2024, and it is expected to be another intense and decisive event in the race for the White House.
