Slovakia’s government has announced its intention to abolish the office of the prosecutor general, a move that has raised alarm among EU officials and civil society groups over the state of the rule of law in the country.

The new Prime Minister Robert Fico want to shut down the office that work to curb the corruption.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on holding early presidential elections on February 7, 2024. Originally votes for the next presidential elections were scheduled to be held in 2025, but following the presidential decree it was rescheduled by moving back to 2024.

Previously, a company created by a Russian citizen had already come under restrictions from the United States, Azernews reports, citing Kun.uz News Agency.
