Hundreds of thousands of protesters took to the streets of London on Saturday to demand an immediate end to the Israeli war crimes in Gaza, which has killed more than 11000 Palestinians in one month.
More than 300,000 protesters participated in the march. The march, organized by various pro-Palestinian groups, was one of the largest demonstrations in the British capital in recent years. Protesters waved Palestinian flags, chanted slogans, and carried banners denouncing Israel’s actions as war crimes and genocide.
However, the peaceful rally was marred by clashes with far-right counter-protesters, who reportedly hurled bottles, fireworks, and eggs at the marchers. The London Metropolitan Police said they arrested at least 126 people for offenses including violent disorder, assault, and public order breaches. Nine officers were injured in the confrontations, one of them seriously.
The police also said they intervened to prevent protesters from reaching the Israeli embassy, which was heavily guarded by security forces. Some protesters tried to break through the police cordons, resulting in scuffles and arrests.
The UK and the US have been widely accused of supporting Israeli war crimes and to coverup Israeli aggression. The UK and the US also failed to implement the ceasefire.
