NATO’s AWACS facility in Germany’s Geilenkirchen has been put on alert after intelligence warned of a ‘potential threat.’ The security at the base has been increased, and all non-mission essential staff have been sent home as a precautionary measure. Geilenkirchen base is home to the NATO AWACS (airborne early warning and control systems) force.
