Chinese President Xi Jinping urged all parties to stop the violence and resume dialogue in the Gaza Strip, where more than 14400 civilians have been killed in the past week. He made the remarks during the BRICS extraordinary virtual summit on the Palestinian-Israeli issue, which was held on Tuesday.
The summit, initiated by China, was attended by the leaders of Brazil, Russia, India, and South Africa. The participants discussed the current situation in Gaza and the ways to promote peace and stability in the region.
President Xi said that China is deeply concerned about the escalation of violence and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. He called for an immediate ceasefire and the protection of civilians, especially women and children. He also urged the international community to provide humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people and support the efforts of the UN and regional countries to mediate the conflict.
